append to a log when the indexer or daemon is started. I think it is
better to start from scratch. If not, people will assume the top of the
file is the start of the log when it may not be.

consistency's sake? It currently gets appended to and not started from
scratch.

By the way is there a way to follow that log fine without re-running
'tail -f' every restart?

Hmm, I thought it worked by just keeping the command running. If not,
perhaps the --retry switch works. I have never tried it though.

I just tried and it doesn't work really. Thanks anyways...

I should have read my man page better: I did use 'tail --retry
--follow=name' instead of 'tail --follow=name --retry' which is the
reason it did not work. Now I'm happy...
