Hi everybody
(I just want to complain!!!)
I have been using tracker on Ubuntu Feisty (0.5.???) and now on Gutsy
(0.6.3) and I think it is not working very well anymore (as it used to).
It is hard to produce any concrete example but I occasionally notice
searches that do not produce any results, whereas they should (and used
to with the previous version)
I have an example, though. I downloaded symbols-a4.pdf from
www.ctan.org/tex-archive/info/symbols/comprehensive/symbols-a4.pdf and
saved it on my hard disk. Now, when I search "arcminutes" on tracker, it
find the file symbols-a4.pdf (and no other, since this strange word is
unlikely to be found anywhere else). But if I ask to look for "atomic"
(which is found on p. 108) then it nevers find this file (it finds many
other files). In the past month, I tried quite a few other searches that
did not help me find the correct file, while the word I was searching WAS
in the file. I also once (and maybe not only once) found a file which was
NOT containing the word I had searched.
Is it NORMAL ? (it does not seem so, and was not like this with the
former version, or less, since I hadn't noticed)
these were fixed in 0.6.4 in hardy
If you have any idea why it is so, or if there is some setting I need to
change, please let me know (I'd rather not switch to google
desktop...!!!) A last question, completely disconnected: is there any
chance that postscript files .ps/.ps.gz will be indexed some time ? what
about archives (zip/tgz/tar)?
yes these are planned
