If this was decided today, how long would it take to ready it for
release? Is there much work involved to stabilise indexer-split?

I would like to see the merge with trunk so soon as possible, even if
indexer-split is not totally stable.

More people can help discovering bugs (for some time it will be very
easy :) ) and it simplifies the bug reporting and fixing. Now the bugs
must be solved/patched in two branches, and it is a lot of extra job for
nothing.

Jamie, Martyn, Carlos... what do you think about

1) moving indexer-split branch to trunk in about two weeks?
2) Two more weeks solving things and then prepare 0.6.8 release?

 Is it very optimistic?

Any status update? I see a whole lot code landing in indexer-split and
no end in sight.

Well, the goal posts have moved slightly recently, so to speak (based on
my recent email thread about what the indexer and deamon should be
doing). So we have had to move some code about and retest things. Once
that is done, we should be in good shape to start thinking about the
merge. Not sure about 0.7 - I would say that is probably even further
off due to testing needed once we hit TRUNK with the new branch. Jamie
of course will be making that decision.

It's just seems an endless wait. trunk sucks hard and indexer-split is
barely functional for me. But I suppose I shouldn't complain since I
see you guys are clearly not looking for anyone running this code
since you know it ain't ready, even for trunk. Sorry if it sounds like
nagging...
