If you look at the code, you will see that this is actually the intention :-) Deskbar 2.20 just broke its API in a subtle way, so the handler broke too.

I'm looking into this.

1) should now be addressed. 2 will require more work, and I'm not sure it is a good idea, since Tracker seems a bit slow on retrieving snippets and deskbar can't update hits async.
