I think it would be great to show all results. From not attached disk's,
too. So we can search e.g. on DVD/CD for backups we made.
Maybe with a hint in t-s-t that the disk is not present.
Is it possible to add a user-defined-label to each HDD/DVD/CD we index?
E.g. "Photos07 - 2".
So t-s-t can show something like: the picture is located on "Photos07 -
2"-DVD.

I think the best thing would be if the deskbar module, as well as the search in nautilus simply didn't return results from external drives while they are not attached. On the other hand, t-s-t could very well do it as suggested above. Best thing would perhaps be a check box in t-s-t to include results from external drives.
