the deadline is 12th March so what I need are ideas and also are there
any students here that are eligible and willing to work on tracker for
SoC?
I am an eligible student and I plan to apply for SoC. My original
idea was to propose [1] as a GNOME project. It is something I'll
start working on at some point anyway. However I understand that
there's the question of reusability and integration. For instance,
I need a tag cloud, but it would be much wiser to work on a tag
cloud widget in libtracker-gtk first. Also a new library for client
applications needs to be written. I think this could be one idea,
although I'm not 100% sure if it's "big" enough.
Just curious of your progress on this?
Expect the tag cloud widget in tracker trunk in a few days.
The application that I described there is slowly emerging, I believe
that it now makes sense to register a new GNOME module soon; again it's
a matter of days. When this happens I guess I'll announce it on the
gnome-announce list, as suggested by the new GNOME svn repo policy.
A bare-bones glimpse of it can be seen in my recent blog post [1].
A GObject-based client library is necessary, and I think that it would
make a lot of sense for it to be in essence an interface to XESAM.
