you can encrypt the $Home/.Tracker using FUSE encfs to avoid that

that is much harder for us to do and not all media will be writable. In 
fact the lack of space on most of them will rule it out. We do want to 
support network searches so maybe something can be done...

we will use HAL and the unique ID of the volume to update trackers 
database with the corrected uri's automatically

this bit is planned with HAL support but with one central database in 
$Home - we will deactivate search results from it when volume with 
registered id is not mounted

we already store a volume ID for all files so this is easy to do for us
