I seem to only get search if I keep the default "List of directory
roots to index", namely the home directory.
Several times, I've tried to change it as follows:
# List of directory roots to index and watch seperated by semicolons
WatchDirectoryRoots=/;
# List of directory roots to not index and not watch seperated by
semicolons
NoWatchDirectory=/bin;/vimlinuz;/proc;/bin;/sbin;*png;/dev;/lib;/tmp;/vmlinuz.old;
Each time, I get:
:~$ tracker-search mexico
tracker-search: internal tracker error: Did not receive a reply.
Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply,
the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout
expired, or the network connection was broken.

Once I go back to the default .cfg file, however, searches work fine
(except that they are, of course, limited to the home directory). I
don't know that this is related, but I've noticed Google Desktop, too,
had trouble once search was expanded to other directories.
Is there a problem with extending indexing to other directories? Am i
missing something?
no there is no problem that im aware of
I suspect trackerd has hanged/crashed
(the error is caused by dbus timing out)
