Do we want hard enable/disable options for tracker?

(im not sure? - what do others think?)
I would vote yes, if my vote counts :)

As this truly will make the packaging on gentoo lighter, and I don't
think it has negative effects for the other distributions. The problem
is that the packages should not have automagic dependencies, this means
that if the user selects for example the negated USE-flag (this is as an
abstracted configure switch) -gnome, the package should not build any
optional stuff, which depends on gnome - no matter if the user has/does
not have gnome/gtk+ libraries installed....
On the other hand compnerd will probably be the gentoo
tarcker-maintainer, as the request bugs for the tracker are assigned to
him, so applying his patches will probably get tracker faster officially
in portage :)

I agree but I cant get it to work on Edgy at all (complains about linxine even though I did not enable it and does not find any of the metadata extractorsor inotify)

I guess it does not work well with autogen.sh or maybe it needs latest autoconf?
