libwrap is a base lib which should be on most systems and is used not
just by mysql but also gnome, bonobo and most other network protocols -
you should have it installed by default with ubuntu if not do
apt-get install libwrap0 libwrap0-dev
then recompile. (how are u running gnome without it?)
