This is downloading 3000 headers, then 800 headers, removing the two
directories, downloading 3000 headers, 800 headers, removing,
downloading downloading, removing, d....

ps. Most of the memory jumps (that jump more than a megabyte) seem to be
Pango, Gtk+, etc etc. Those are the ones that are going to differ on
each platform. It would be nice, however, to know exactly which
component allocates how much of all this.
