[Shotwell] Picasa Photo Comments in Chinese

I have imported a number of photos into ShotWell that were originally edited in Picasa. However, ShotWell is 
displaying all of the photo comments that were added in Picasa as Chinese characters. Is there any way to 
correct this so that ShotWell displays the text in English?
