Hello,
are there any plans to implement symmetric encryption/decryption (i.e.
gpg --symmetric) in Seahorse interface ?
It could be useful for non tech-savvy people wanting to carry a small
number of encrypted files on, say, a USB stick, and to easily access
these files read-write, on any Gnome desktop running under a guest
account, without the following burden :
1. import their key pair into the guest account keyring
2. work, save, remove the USB stick
3. remove the key pair from the guest account keyring
Such a feature would mainly be appreciated in the Gedit plugin and in
the Nautilus right-click extension ; drag’n’drop to the panel applet
would be a bonus.
(For the Gedit plugin, I’m thinking of something like easypg, an Emacs
library that allows to transparently decrypt a given file whose name
ends with the .gpg extension when a user opens it, and to transparently
encrypt on save.)
Bye,
