If the applied patch works, then it's by fortuity, some actions 
undocumented in RandR spec. I'll work on this, suspending the keyboard
hack. I don't think it will take a month.

Details: updating is split into two, code around configure-notify-hook
and the new one. Each doesn't take care of each other. Internally
stored information needs more treatment.

And there's redundancy, which may be ok though, in library detection
in configure.in, Makefile.in, and Makedefs.in. Chris, can you compare
the applied patch to the edit dc64cb?
