Maybe it should not be and maybe this is the case here. OTOH I know
that on various occasions when compiling the same sources across
varying distributions that 'autogen.sh' step was crucial due to
differences in autotools versions. In other words 'configure' as
supplied with a tarball was just barfing on me but regenerated was
fine. I do not have any specific examples in this moment.
