Well, i tried it without noticing subjectively significant slowdown
(as the patch description warns) with simple usage, i mean i didn't
any objective measure.

About the patch, i don't know how it's used. I've tried to enable the
gnome-terminals transparency effect, both the "fake" and real one via
XComposite, but i didn't found differences when the patch was applied.
Maybe GDK/GTK alpha handling was fixed in the meantime?
