Sawfish/Gnome/Xinerama dropping windows

There are several bug reports lurking around about sawfish losing windows when used with Xinerama.
 I have very little to offer to help fix the bug, except that it is happening on my system.  Is
anyone with the expertise willing to help me find the problem.

I don't know exactly how to recreate the problem, but one that might help fix it is when I have
several frames of emacs open and one of them disappears, I can use the emacs frame menu of the
visible frame to go open the one that disappeared.

Other apps that have disappeared are gnome-terminal and firefox (iceweasel).  I'm running Debian
Etch.
