Why does sawfish draw windows as inactive while other wms draw them as active when a menu pops up?

Hi,

When a menu is displayed on the screen, most window managers I know of
keep the window displayed as active. With sawfish, the window is redrawn
as inactive. This happens with sawfish's own menus, but also with KDE's,
where the flickering when moving from one menu to the next is a bit of
an annoyance. Why is this, and if this is not for technical reasons, is
there any configuration option that can change this? I haven't been able
to find one.
