[sabayon] Problem booting from 3.3b livecd

Hey,
If I try booting from the 3.3b minicd, then I get the following errors:

So I booted from the livecd of another distro, and manually copied the contents of the livecd.squashfs by mounting it using mount -o loop, to an ext3-formatted partition. Then, I added the following entries to 
menu.lst for grub:

title Sabayon
root (hd1,1)
kernel /boot/kernel-genkernel-x86-2.6.20-sabayon-r3 root=/dev/hdb2
initrd /boot/initramfs-genkernel-x86-2.6.20-sabayon-r3

However, if I try to boot Sabayon, then I get a 
"The root block /dev/hdb2 is unspecified or not detected" error

Please advise....
