The device was added upstream in the libmtp, but my version of it didn't
have it in the supported devices. On Arch the solution was simple - to
get the libmtp-git package from AUR, though it took me some time to
figure it out.

Rhythmbox unmounts the device from gvfs on first access, so generally that
isn't a problem. More likely, rhythmbox is ignoring the device because it's
not in libmtp's supported device list.
