Here's the HIG bug:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140592

Also relevant is that some people want to disable the notification icon
in Rhythmbox altogether:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=317982

In my humble opinion, Rhythmbox should copy Banshee - the notification
icon should become a plugin (probably on by default, unlike Banshee?),
and there should be a configuration option to control what happens when
you close the main window (minimise by default, when the plugin is
enabled).

Ideally, this sort of thing should be specified in the HIG, but that
could take ages to argue out - and there will always be users who want
the opposite behaviour.
