Can you post the patch to on the bug in bugzilla:

http://bugs.gnome.org/323511

so it doesn't get lost, and also others who are Cc'ed on the bug (but
not on the mailing list) will know about it.

(The discussion on that bug about using evolution for alarms was
before there was a plugin system.  Plugins are optional so they don't
have to be used).
