This is only my opinion but a development release that is actually
numbered (i.e. 0.9.0) has the implication that it is "pseudo-stable". By
that I mean that it *may* crash/destroy your data/eat your firstborn,
but probably won't. By just having it in arch/cvs people tend to
actually think about it before trying it, so they realise that it might
*really* be unstable sometimes.

From what I've seen of the main development branch it has a couple of
big problems, one of which is the crashes that I mentioned in the Queue
thread. Some people say it crashes occasionally when starting up, on my
computer it does it about 50% (or more) of the time. Christophe said
that he had a fix in this "play-bin" branch, but I don't know if that
can be backported to the main branch (Christophe?).

I think that if we could get it to be stable enough that people could
use it, if they want to be on the cutting edge, there could be an actual
release although other people probably know better about where it is at.
