Exactly, upgrading to gstreamer 0.8.8 should get rid of the problem.

Thank you all very much, that did the trick. Little bit of a scare
due to gst-register not including /usr/lib64/gstreamer-0.8 in the plugin
path by default, but rhythmbox is all up and running again.
