You are right wrt the iRiver being "just" a USB mass storage device
(UMS). However, it also allows one to create a database file extracted
from ID3 tags such that one can browse by artist, genre, etc.
Integrating this would be a nice addition to Rhythmbox. I am currently
(with help from others) developing a Python program to support tags from
Ogg files, too.
cheers

Hi all
There have been some mails regarding the integration of iPod and
Rhythmbox. What about iRiver? I recently purchased an iRiver H140
because it is much more open and versatile than the iPod. How can it
best be made to work together with Rhythmbox?
iRiver seems to be just a usb memory stick, so *if* external Hard Drives
and/or networking ever get implemented (as a seperate source), then you
could just rename to source to iRiver... I don't have any clue if this
will ever happen.
As of now, as you know, the only thing you can do is mount and import in
the library (ugly).
