Dear release-team and doc team,
I just wanted to inform you that I plan to push the changes at
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=703150 to gnome-weather for
3.18.
What the changes do is to replace all the backgrounds used by
gnome-weather with new ones, that have a better (more permissive)
license and have better readability for the overlaid text.
The change was originally requested by Debian, as they cannot package
gnome-weather in the current form because some of the current
backgrounds are not DFSG-compliant.
As such, there should be no user impact, other than old screenshots and
documentation materials will need to be updated. Screenshots used in
AppStream are part of the git repository and I will update them. I
don't recall any other documentation for gnome-weather, and I don't
foresee it being featured in the release notes.
Therefore I don't think there is any risk from this change, but
comments are welcome. If there is no objection, the changes will appear
in 3.17.92 next week.
Thanks,
Giovanni
