Would it be ok to merge
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/review?bug=708403&attachment=255342 to
empathy master?

It fixes https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=708403 causing
crashes on some system (not mine for some reason so I didn't catch it
earlier).
