gedit code freeze break request

I'd like to commit the patch attached to bug
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=696425

Even if it does not affect gnome directly, it affects a lot of gedit
users that are using unity. The patch has been tested with
gnome-shell, metacity and unity and it works in all the cases as
expected.
