Sushi freeze break request

Hi,

a regression from the GtkApplication port of Sushi got uncaught before
hard code freeze - you have to press the spacebar twice to actually
activate the preview window. There is a patch attached to the bug [1],
which I would like to commit to master for 3.6.0.
