To clarify the portability situation a bit and where it makes sense to
reimplement our interfaces on other distros/OSes and where not I have
now put together this extensive (and hopefully comprehensive) chart of
new interfaces we have introduced with systemd and which applications
started to use:

This should make it easier for those who are not interested to adopt
systemd to provide a certain level of compatibility where appropriate.
