So apparently ftp.gnome.org is used for various freedesktop things.

Any opinion on this?

Basically ftpadmin bcc's the maintainer, and release-team in case the
maintainer cannot be determined. This as it is likely some external
dependency.

Breaks down for freedesktop stuff put on ftp.gnome.org (NetworkManager,
ModemManager).

Are people ok with having some random email bcc'ed to release-team every
once in a while?

This as IMO if maintainer cannot be found, it is up to the release team
to ensure nothing strange is going on.
