Hello all,
We are currently blocked on a decision on the moduleset reorg, I read
again the thread, here is a quick summary of my current thoughts:
* Platform / Extended platform / Core Desktop, no problem here, we
need this part to be strong, not a supermarket of modules
* Mobile, "regular" GNOME should be okay for mobile, it's already
mostly so for the platform, we currently do not have the UI part
for mobile devices, but with GNOME Shell we are getting there, for
certain form factors at least (netbooks, tablets)
* Applications, we need high standards for them, and currently both
our infrastructure and rules help them attaining those (i18n,
schedule), and we should help them even more (usability reviews).
* Mikkel proposal for an "incubator" step, like it's done in the
Apache project, it would help in acknowledging applications before
they get to the highest standards; I don't know how it would work,
especially as those applications would be all over the place, how
could this be more than "this app is on the release team radar" ?
* Reviewing the current applications, it's a big effort but I think
it will happen quietly, as we get the new HIG, as designers go
over the apps, as the documentation gets converted to Mallard...
Comments? Should we plan an IRC meeting?
Frederic
