Hi release team,
gnome-settings-daemon now has a housekeeping plug-in now that purges the
thumbnail cache. The default max_age for items in the cache is 60 days
and the default max_size is 64 MB. This works for me, but some have
complained that this is way too small. For instance:
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/desktop-devel-list/2008-September/msg00124.html
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=547190
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=551944
Two small patches are proposed here:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=552680
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=119177
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=119178
to boost max_age to 180 days and max_size to 512 MB. This needs release
team approval to happen for 2.24.
f-spot now auto-tweaks these parameters, but the cache of heavy f-spot
users would be pruned heavily the first time they run 2.24 if changes
are not made.
Could release-team approve/reject in bug 552680?
- Mike
