gnome-control-center vs libgnomekbd

Maybe it's just too late but I can't for the life of me figure out how
to tell the convert to tarballs script to use a specific version of a
module. I need to go with the 2.20 release of libgnomekbd since
gnome-control-center won't build against the latest. Anyone?
