Hello to all,
I hereby confirm my e-mail dating back from the 20th of June.
GNOME 2.20 will not ship with Ekiga 3.00 but with Ekiga 2.0.10 (which
will be released in time).
Ekiga 3.00 is nearly code ready, all main features are already included.
However, there are still many patches pending, and much work ongoing in
OPAL to improve various important core parts of the library.
Moreover, Ekiga 3.00 will require a rewrite of the manual (which did not
start yet) and a migration of Ekiga.net to support the new features.
As you probably know, we are doing that in our spare time, and even
though our hackers & collaborators team is growing a lot since SIP was
introduced, it still requires a lot of work.
As a consequence, I prefer to postpone it to March 2008 for GNOME 2.20.
Ekiga 3.00 should then be one of the *big* updates of the GNOME
platform. It will be the version with the most exciting new features
ever released... (even compared to the introduction of SIP in 2.00).
I would like to organize something with the GNOME staff to make it
public. GNOME has a tool that no other desktop has and it will be even
more true with 3.00.
