Request for freeze break (gnome-panel)

Hi,

When evolution is not installed and you double click on a date in the
calendar of the clock, it crashes. This is

I posted a patch that fixes it, but the break request is only about the 
"+	error = NULL;" line. This is enough to fix the patch. The other
part of the patch is just to make it nicer ;-)

Is it okay to commit only this line?
