Recent splash images have been drawn by Sebastian Biot
<seb viralata net> ...
it might be good to contact him early on the subject.

Another issue that came up on the was license for screenshot
contributions ... we frequently get requests to use screenshot
on a website in articles and books.

What our lawyers pointed out was that two pieces of permission
are needed:

 - The foundation's permission to use the trademark

 - The permission of the person who created the image (the
copyright holder) to use the image.

Currently, we have no mechanism for the second. One possibility
is that we should require all screenshots we post to be explicitly
put under some sort of open content license
(e.g., one of the http://creativecommons.org/ license.)

The other possibility is that we just need to post contact information
for the creator with each screenshot.
