[gnome-pro] First meeting about a GNOME support page (15th October 2011)

Hello,

I'm really sorry for the long delay before sending this email but I was
kept mostly offline for some personal stuffs.

On 15th of October, we held an IRC meeting (on #professionals ). Were,
at some point, part of the debate, according to the attached log

Lanedo : ploum
Codethink : aruiz
OpenShine : telemaco
Igalia : juanjo
Collabora : Uraeus

Summary of the meeting:

1) Everyone agree that having a GNOME support page listing some
companies is a good idea. Juanjo proposed to reach an agreement between
ourselves and then propose it to the community.

2) The format will be a page, listing companies with their logo and a
short description. The order hasn't been decided yet.

3) The page is maintained by a "maintainer committee" which is also
ultimately responsible to accept or refuse a company to be listed on
that page. That "maintainer committee" (which can be a one person
committee) is without any company affiliation and is chosen by the GF
Board. (it can be the board itself)

4) A set of guidelines of which company can be listed or not will be
available but those are only guidelines. Companies have to send a
request to the "maintainer committee" (a specific template might be
done). Ultimately, the decision will be up to the "maintainer
committee".

5) Companies are listed for one year. Each year, they have to renew the
process and send a new request to the committee.

6) Some guidelines rules seems to already made a consensus amongst
participants of the meeting:
- The company should offer some specific GNOME support or consultancy
- The company should contribute back to the community (by example by
employing some comitters)

7) Ideally, the page should be developed by the GNOME web team. If they
don't have the ressources, companies could offer some help. Aruiz
suggested that Codethink might be able to offer some webdesign time.

ACTIONS: ploum will write a draft proposal, based on the result of this
meeting. That proposal, after agreement of this list, will be sent to
the board.

Yours,

Lionel (ploum on IRC)
