Given that, is there an easy way to customize planner to not include the Gantt chart in the exported HTML, and instead include more complete information in the "Tasks" list (like start & finish dates that include the year)?

Planner currently does not support this. We would need to have some kind
of export options dialog in which to select this.

That would be nice.

If you feel adventurous and need a quick fix for your current situation,
you could modify a few .xsl files.
Adding the year to the dates should be done in
/usr/share/planner/stylesheets/html1_tasks.xsl at every occurrence of
month-abbreviation (use the year() function).
To remove the gantt in the output remove the following line from
data/stylesheets/planner2html.xsl:

      <xsl:call-template name="gantt"/>

The changes take effect after a restart of planner.

Not sure if this helps, but there you go.

This helps a lot, actually. Thank you. This kind of helpful advice will help to get more developers familiar with the guts of the app., and eventually get more people to contribute in the long term (if that's the goal anyway.)

Thanks!
