You obviously have more experience than I in this area. I've
manipulated individual XML files, but not multiple files - for instance
to create a master timeline from a group of individual project files.

I may look into this further as time permits to see if there really is a
significant advantage to using traditional databases such as PostgreSQL
and MySQL. The obvious downside is that Berkeley DB XML isn't widely
used, so may not prove as popular a choice.
