Re: [orca-list] Voice is not changing for a application profile

Hello,

I have bad experience with profiles. I've switched many times and the computer was slower and slower due to restart, so be careful of it. I had to delete profiles and have Default only.

Vojta.

I set a shortcut key to switch profile in Orca Preferences. In my case I set Orca+Shift+Arrow-right to switch between 5 proiles (3 with Voxin). Maybe this will be of help.

Hi,

my standard speech synth is espeak-ng, but in Firefox I'd like to use a Voxin voice. So I created an Orca application profile for Firefox and configured the Voxin voice there. If I apply the changes all is good and the Voxin voice is used for Firefox, but if I switch to another open application, e.g. Thunderbird, orcas voice is not switched back to the espeak-ng synth.

If I am in Thunderbird and have espeak-ng enabled and switch to Firefox, where Voxin is configured via the applicationspecific profile, the voice is also not changed. Instead espeak-ng is used, but with the settings that I have stored for Voxin in the Firefox profile, e.g. speech rate, pitch and so on.

Is this a known issue or should automatic voice switching based on applicationspecific profiles work? Shall I open a bug report?

I am using orca 42.3 on Debian Bullseye.

Cheers,

  Schöpp
