So, I got it to work, here's the page I followed:

I got it working, but Windows was very slow, too slow to be useful, even when assigned 4 CPU cores and 8 GB Ram. Ah well.

My first impression is that it's a file system-level error. Perhaps the
file system type isn't compatible with what you're trying to do.
