That doesn't happen to me.


Actually, I tried qemu alone, when I use

-device AC97,id=audio -audiodev alsa,id=audio

sound is clean, and when I use 

-device AC97,id=audio -audiodev pa,id=audio

I get cracks, looking like what we had in speech-dispatcher.


I agree that the problem seems to have gotten much worse recently, we
even hear some echo. Downgrading to pulseaudio 12 makes the problem much
less pronounced.
