You can cut this chatter way down by removing bookmarks, top
sites, snippits, highlights, history, recommend by pocket, all
from your start page in firefox. Fear not, they're not removed
from your system, they just don't preload on startup or on opening
a new tab.
Go to firefox preferences->home and untick those things I
mentioned above. You can remove these things from your new tab
page, as well, and this should quiet things down a bit. I've also
set the address bar to include no suggestions.
