[orca-list] No speech in orca after installing GUI how do you fix this?

Good morning all,

Last night I just installed arch  and all works fine in CLI, but unable to get speech from orca after 
installing mate and using GDM as my login manager.  I tried to install espeak-NG, but system complains about 
remove speak brakes dependency of speak.  Are there clear instructions on how to get around this?  I checked 
the arch wiki, but did not find anything.  I think I got it to work at one point but don’t remember what I 
did.  Thanks.
