Hi Alex,
I followed the Ubuntu instructions. Orca is very convenient to launch
with the keystroke. Then I got stuck with the Braille display. I use
an old Braillex Tiny by Paypenmayer (however you spell the name). It
required a bit of manual config file tweaking, but it was working only
in the terminal.
Once I installed brltty-speechd and added the systemd service it
started flying...

My point is that, it is very likely if not certain that power users
will be the once switching to Linux after using Mac or Windows. They
can figure things out, but due to so many places with similar, but at
times unclear information, getting started can be a bit confusing and
not as smooth saling.

It seems like the desktop environment choice needs a bit more
guidance. Debian's accessibility how-to has surprisingly lots of
information - including sound theme - for example.
