Re: [orca-list] Tips and tricks for Orca and Firefox

I'm mostly talking about Facebook with this, but the sticky brows mode with the triple click causes a lot of the items on the screen to go away or not be easy to find, a little bit like the layout mode, so ends up making things more complicated. Otherwise, I would switch the sticky brows to be the single click option. It still goes into focus mode with the tab, and any new page, like from hitting enter on a link, will put Orca into focus mode. The new web page is where I wish that sticky mode would stick the most because I don't like ending up in a log-in field and focus mode when I'm browsing a website, like searching for a book on bookshare for example, until I'm ready to log in, or ending up in a comment field on Facebook. Sometimes, I forget Orca is going to be in focus mode as soon as the page loads and end up with a bunch of "h" characters in a field.

Does a tripple Orca + A not stick browse mode?

Best wishes,

The worst of the sites is Facebook, so it's probably their coding practices. Something triggers it and it's a constant battle when reading posts. Tabbing does trigger focus mode, but on Facebook, and sometimes Google, there are times Orca gets stuck on an element and the only way to move is to tab away, then you may or maynot be in focus mode and in a comment or edit field.

I've also noticed that object mode with the up and down arrows triggers some popup dialogs at the bottom of the screen, moving Orca to them, on Facebook. Returning to where you were is tricky. On the other hand, layout mode won't read all the information in a line with the arrow navigation. I find myself constantly switching between layout, object, focus and brows modes when reading Facebook. It would be nice if there were a way to set focus mode to only engage manually just to cut down on a little of the battle.
