Re: [orca-list] Orca 3.36.1 echo by words fails in Thunderbird

Now I just upgraded to 3.36.2 and word echo works fine.

Besides I can see drastic improvements in performance with Firefox.

This is wonderful work Joanie.

Thanks Milton.

Word echo works for me in that case as well. Just to be triple sure, when you do "orca -v" what version do you get?

Orca is silent.

Expected result Orca should say Hello.

Now I do:

1. press control+R to reply on this mail.

2 type "Hello'.

3. press the Spacebar, Orca is silent, no word echo.

4. press Control+Home.

5. type 'Orca' and press the Spacebar.

Orca says Orca as expected.

Hey Milton.

I'm afraid I'm having a hard time understanding what you're reporting below. Could you therefore provide me a concrete list of steps to reproduce in which Orca master fails to echo the word you typed?

Thanks!

Strange issue here, word echo works if I type in the reply a word for example Hello and press Control+Home to put the cursor in front of the typed word and continuing my message. In a new message (Control+N) word echo works as expected.

I confirm the issue with Orca 3.36.1, not 3.36.2.

@seb128 Maybe Orca 3.36.2 could be shipped into Ubuntu 20.04? As it's a more stable and reliable version it should be safe to ship it.

Best regards.

I just tried with Orca master and Thunderbird daily (77.0a1) and word echo works for me in the body of the message both for plain text and rich text messages. Just confirmed that word echo also works for me in Thunderbird stable. So I'm afraid I need more details.

Just forgot to mention, that this does not happen in the subject field.

Only while writing the mail bod I get this problem.

Dear all.

I am writing this literally blindly so please ignore my spelling mistakes.

I can actually review by line so mistakes may not infact happen/

But I just installed Ubuntu-mate 20.04 and while all is well, the echo
by word is broken.

The Orca version is 3.36.1 and Thunderbird is at 68.7.0.

Kindly confirm or let me know if I am doing something wrong.
