[orca-list] pidgin and telegram

I tried creating an account in pidgin for telegram.  It's necessary to
give a country code with the plus sign as a prefix followed by the country
code then the 10-digit phone number in the united states without spaces.
I tried using +1 for the country code and later tried +01 for the country
code and neither seemed to work.  For telegram logins with pidgin which of
these is the correct country code?  Something else strange about pidgin is
that when setting up the account I once found country code disabled to the
left of where I was trying to enter the phone number.  All of this is
being attempted using a telegram-pidgin plugin.
