Yeah, me too. There is just no way the problem is with orca. Orca 
doesn't do that much hard drive I/O. Besides the kernel handles disk 
I/O. For orca to be the problem, it would have to be demanding things 
from the kernel that even a database server does not. Impossible. Way 
more likely, the orca crashes are a symptom of something else, possibly 
hard drive failure.


Anyway, to answer the question, I recommend an SSD drive. I got a 480Gb 
drive for $75 and I didn't even shop around. I just walked into a store 
and bought it retail. You probably could do way better shopping around 
on-line. But, man it is fast. And quiet.
